Legislative Deadlines

2025 Session Deadlines:

  • December 2, 2024 – Deadline for current members of the General Assembly to submit three (of five) bill requests to the Office of Legislative Legal Services.
  • December 16, 2024 – Deadline for newly elected members of the General Assembly to submit three (of five) bill requests to the Office of Legislative Legal Services.
  • January 3, 2025 – Deadline for all legislators to file for introduction one of their first three bill requests.
  • January 8, 2025 – Convening Day for the 2025 Legislative Session.
  • January 14, 2025 – Deadline for all legislators to submit the last two (of five) bill requests to the Office of Legislative Legal Services.
  • January 17, 2025 – Deadline for Senators to file for introduction the other two of their first three bill requests.
  • January 21, 2025 – Deadline for joint committees to meet with state departments to review strategic plans, regulatory agendas, and budget requests. (§2-7-203 (2), C.R.S.).
  • January 24, 2025 – Deadline for Representatives to file for introduction the other two of their first three bill requests.
  • January 31, 2025 – Deadline for Senators to file for introduction the last two (of five) bill requests.
  • February 7, 2024 – Deadline for Representatives to file for introduction the last two (of five) bill requests.
  • February 21, 2025 – House Committee reporting deadline for House bills introduced by the 17th legislative day.
  • February 28, 2025 – Senate Committee reporting deadline for Senate bills.
  • March 7, 2025 – House Committee reporting deadline for remaining House bills.
  • March 14, 2025 – Final passage deadlinefor House bills in the House and Senate bills in the Senate.
  • March 31-April 4, 2025 – Long Bill in Senate.
  • April 4, 2025 – Deadline to submit drafting requests for resolutions and memorials.
  • April 7 – 11, 2025 – Long Bill in House.
  • April 7, 2025 – Deadline for all legislators to file for introduction resolutions and memorials.
  • April 11, 2025 – Deadline for legislators to submit written requests to the Legislative Council for any interim studies.
  • April 11, 2025 – Committee reporting deadline for bills originating in the other house.
  • April 22, 2025 – Final passage deadline for Senate bills in the House and House bills in the Senate.
  • April 23, 2025 – Deadline for any conference committee report on the Long Bill to be adopted.
  • April 25, 2024 – Appropriation Committee reporting deadline for bills referred to it in the house of introduction.
  • April 30, 2025 – Final passage deadline in the house of introduction for all bills referred to the Appropriations Committee in that house.
  • May 5, 2025 – Appropriation Committee reporting deadline for bills referred to it in the second house.
  • May 7, 2025 – Final passage deadline in the second house for all bills referred to the Appropriations Committee in that house.
  • May 7, 2025 – Final passage deadline, including any conference committee report, for any school finance bills.
  • May 7, 2025 – 120th Day of Session – Adjournment Sine Die.

2025 Post-Session Deadlines (providing session adjourns on May 7):

  • June 6, 2025 – Last day for the Governor to act on bills from the legislative session.
  • June 7, 2025 – Any bills not signed or vetoed within 30 days following adjournment become law.
  • August 6, 2025 – Bills passed with “Act Subject to Petition” clauses become effective at 12:01 a.m., if no referendum petition is filed against it.
